brief introduction:Nicotinamide (English: nicotinamide) is an amide of nicotinic acid (vitamin B3). It is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of pellagra and stomatitis, glossitis, sick sinus syndrome, atrioventricular block and other problems. Nicotinamide is a water-soluble vitamin and a member of vitamin B group. Nicotinic acid can be converted to nicotinamide in vivo. Although both compounds have vitamin effects, nicotinamide has less pharmacology and toxicity than nicotinic acid, and these effects will occur during the transformation of nicotinic acid. So nicotinamide doesn't reduce cholesterol or cause flushing like niacin. When adults take more than 3 g daily, it will cause liver toxicity. Nicotinic acid is used to synthesize nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) in cells. For nicotinamide, the transition pathway is very similar to that of nicotinic acid. NAD + and NADP + are coenzymes in many kinds of enzymatic redox reactions.
